Walk For Babies!

Some of you know that I serve on the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. This is the hospital where Jax was for 6 weeks in the NICU. Well, Columbus Regional was the title sponsor for our region's March Of Dimes walk this year. The PAC was the host of the event. It was a huge sucess and everyone looked great in their bright blue shirts (designed by your's truly).
It was a special day for our family. We were able to see some of our favorite doctors and nurses from the NICU. You'll see a picture of Evin with Jax. She was our social worker while at Columbus Regional. She has turned into a great friend. In the middle are the members of the PAC with their families. There are only about 10-15 members of the PAC, so you can see that their families came to support us all. Then there is Ryan finishing up our walk. We walked today celebrating Jaxon's life and the progress he has made. You wouldn't even know by looking at him that he was two months early. He now weights 19 1/2 pounds and is 26 inches long! BIG BOY! His smile is infectious and his laugh will make your heart leap. So we walked with pride for 2 miles with other families that have similar stories to ours, but also for some of those whose babies didn't make it. The T-Shirt says: "Marching Together To Conquer Prematurity. Be a Hero to the Tiniest Babies."
There was someone else we walked for today. Laston Dennis. He is the son of our friends Ginger and Jon. Laston was born in January and still remains in the NICU in Atlanta. Even though he has gained plenty of weight it seems that the rest of him is having a hard time catching up. He is now the oldest baby in that NICU and I know that Ginger has come to her wits end time and time again. We are praying for Laston and the entire Dennis family...won't you do the same?
