Go BIG Or Don't Go At All!

Well all my dear friends and family…I did it. I just arrived home from my very first trip away from Jax. It was a long time coming. Now, some of you may think differently. I know some of my friends who still haven’t left their children and they are older. It’s been a 15 months since my baby was born…and I was dying for a getaway. Being that Ryan and I were “older” (whatever that means), than most of our friends when they had children, we were even more use to our “alone” time. Anywho…all that aside…when I began to think where I would take my little escape the first thing I knew was that I didn’t want to go it alone. Granted, Ryan had Jax…which he was so incredibly awesome about. Jaxon and Ryan are like two peas in a pod and love to play and eat junk…so that aspect was all settled. So, who would I go with and where would I go? The answer was clear…Big Creek, MS to spend a luxurious extended weekend with my dear friend Ang.
That’s right! We ate granola, drank cappuccinos, washed our hair with Tea Tree heaven, got our groove on with yoga in the mornings, and I even gave tennis a try. Poor Ang, I’m sure Big Creek is still wondering who was doing all that screaming at the tennis court. I became one with nature as we rode the ranger out on the trails, had some GREAT ribs and chicken, and even became familiar with the phrase, “callin’ the law.” I’m sure there will be talk of me freakin’ out over the sound of a broken window and me fearfully shaking and saying, “Are we just going to sit here and let them kill us?” Oh, yes…never a dull moment with Ang. We laughed TOO much, did some wig wearin’, spaghetti squash eatin’, and some Elvis and Patsy Cline listenin’. I was treated like a princess the entire time and had the delight of dining with Buddy & Lisa and none other than the legendary Carter and Martha Ann. I had so much fun that I even stayed an extra day with the “okay” of a encouraging husband.
So, some may ask what my favorite part of the trip was. Well, I’ll tell you. After our meal at the steak house, some local folks put on a show singing some great Elvis and Patsy Cline goodies. Although Ang and I were a little creeped out (*wink* *wink* Angie!), “Patsy Cline” began to sing Sweet Dreams of You, Carter Burns yelled, “That’s my song!” He made his way over to his charming wife and asked her to dance. They then swayed with each other under the lights. The best part was the look on their faces and the love that was exchanged through laughter and sweet kisses on the cheeks. Angie and I couldn’t help but tear up. It was a pivotal moment for me.
As I sat there in the cold watching this couple, I couldn’t help but think of the leading man in my life that was at home caring for our child. I couldn’t help but wonder if Ryan and I give each other those looks and smiles in front of crowds of people. When we made it back to casa de Angie, I was sharing with her the overpowering thoughts I had from watching her parents. Then she said to me, “You and Ryan will be the same way.” I smiled and then said, “I hope so.”
I hope so. Our first year together with a baby has been anything but trouble-free. We’ve learned more about ourselves and I think at times, we were even flabbergasted that there was more to learn. As our time as a family of three lengthens, I believe Ryan and I learn about this new love we have for each other.
So yes Ang, I believe Ryan and I got what it takes to dance under the lights with some creepy person singing Styx in the background.

Well Amanda, I have been blog stalking you for quite some time ... don't know if you remember me. I have vague memories from that time in my life.

I'm glad you got to spend some time with Angie ... you can't go wrong doing that.

I enjoy reading about your life as "3". Sounds like you're doing really well.
