And so it goes...

Here comes another update...prepare yourselves. We have now been in Lubbock for about a month now and we've enjoyed our time with friends and family. We were lucky to escape the Swine Flu (ha) even though all three of us ended up with colds. I've kept busy with helping my sister-in-law with some projects at Monterey. Ryan's been busy with the Children's Mission Committee from Monterey. They are getting together supplies for our new Children's Classroom at the Pink House. We are very excited to have Bibles, curriculum, songs, and puppets for the Benito Juarez church in Mexico.

Last weekend we took a trip to Childress and spent the weekend with the Henderson family. We have missed them so much and we really enjoyed our time with them. Jax was so sweet with Noah and was amazed by Adah's Hannah Montana moves. Their house is beautiful and we say "Thank You" to Adah for letting us three use her room while we were there. Thank you Jacob, Amanda, and kiddos. We love you and will see you again soon.

As many of you know our main reason for coming to Lubbock was because of my health. This past Tuesday I had my appointment with the Endocrinologist here to check on my Thyroid. Well, my thyroid levels are low and after the ultrasound, it was confirmed that there is a sizable lump on my thyroid as well. After a long conversation and speaking about family history, my doctor's main concern right now is the possibility that I may have inherited Multiple Endocrine Neoplasm Syndrome. Now there are two types of this Syndrome and my mother has both. So at this point surgery to remove the lump is postponed as I go through DNA Screening to determine whether I have type 1 or 2 or if God chooses, neither. From there we will discuss which type of surgery I will have.

In a little over a week I will begin Thyroid medication and hopefully begin the DNA Screening process. All of this will take at least a month. Beyond this screening process, we do not have a time-span of how long I must remain here. As of now Jaxon and I will remain in Lubbock due to frequent doctor's visits and regulation of Thyroid medicine. Ryan will be returning to Mexico the beginning of next week. We still have many goals to reach down there and some work with the Benito Congregation that Ryan wants to be a part of. He will return here to Lubbock as soon as surgery decisions are made.

During our time (Jaxon and I), I will continue to help my sister-in-law (Shauna) with the Children's Ministry at Monterey. This will be great so that I can keep busy and not go insane. We are hoping to get Jaxon into a summer program during our time here. I believe this will prove as a distraction to Jax as surely he will miss his Daddy. Also, the exposure to other kids will be great for Jax. Please pray for this. School is ending and summer is here. Many of these programs through churches are already full, so we are hoping an opportunity will appear.

Tomorrow Ryan and I celebrate 11 years of marriage. WOW! He's got something up his sleeve, so I'm totally pumped!

Please continue to pray for our family. Pray that the end result is finding that I only have a slight thyroid issue and the surgery and recovery are minimal. Pray for Ryan's trip back to Mexico. Pray for our time apart. Continue to pray for the Benito Juarez congregation and for all the projects and new things happening there. We love you all! I thank you for the all the love and prayers already sent my way. Here are some pictures of our time here so far! I hope you enjoy!

News Update

Heads up everyone! We are currently in Lubbock, TX for a bit. Here's the scoop...

I have been feeling a little under-the-weather for...well...really since Jax has been born. I've been doing a lot of things to get healthier and such. Since we've been in Mexico I've been seeing various doctors to help with Diabetes prevention and also a Nutritionist. I'm not at risk for Diabetes but still will continue to see this doctor to talk about prevention. After a few appointments, both doctors could not understand why I was continuing to face certain health issues, so they ran some tests...come to find out my Thyroid levels for out of this world!

Anywho...although this is just another thing to face, it is an answer to some of my health issues that I've been having for almost 2 years. SO....YIPPY! It's good to know people and some friends helped with getting me an appointment with an Endrocrinologist here in Lubbock. We left early because of the H1N1 Flu scare in Mexico...not that we were afraid of contracting it...because well, we were safe as long as we took percaution...however, we were afraid that the might have closed the borders and then I wouldn't be able to cross for my appointment.

So, here we are...awaiting doctor's visits and such. I had a great birthday this year. Best present...not contracting the H1N1 virus...hahahahaha. Thank you to everyone for the wonder birthday wishes. Ang! You are a wonderful and dear friend. Thank you for the one-on-one time...and the shopping spree...I couldn't have asked for a better person to do those things with.

Please keep me and of course, Ryan & Jax in your prayers. Although we are here for good reasons, its difficult to be away from the work in Mexico. We miss our family there and know that things are crazy down there with schools and businesses being closed. Benj & Care...we think of you all everyday and pray for your family more often!

I'm out for now and will keep you all updated! Much love!
